Sophie Verhaeghe

Tutor

Sophie hails originally from the province of West Vlaanderen; she has, however, lived and worked in Brussels for more than fifteen years. She loves her job as an NT2 teacher and translator. She feels that her strong point as a teacher is to put students at ease and allow them to ‘throw themselves’ into speaking Dutch. She is interested in the structure of the Dutch language and loves nothing more than when students ask her unexpected questions about the ‘how’ and ‘what’ of the language. To Sophie, learning a language should feel like a game or challenge but never a task! She feels that the most interesting aspects of her work are the opportunities to come into contact with a variety of personalities and backgrounds, spontaneous conversations and watching the students have fun with their new language skills! In her free time, she enjoys being creative, whether with her hands or with language. She also enjoys discovering new places in the city and country.
